Hamlet of Taloyoak Bargaining Communique #2 - July 11 2025

Dear Members:

A key reason a deal on a new Collective Agreement has not been reached despite 18 months of bargaining is because your Employer is engaging in what is known in law as bad-faith bargaining.

Your Union has a clear message to the Hamlet of Taloyoak:  Drop the concessions, remove your bad faith bargaining proposals from the table, offer a wage increase competitive to that of other communities for the same years, and let’s get to a deal.

YOUR BARGAINING TEAM NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT TO GET YOU THE FAIR DEAL YOU DESERVE.

Hamlet of Taloyoak Bargaining Communique #1 - July 4 2025

Dear Members:

Your Union Bargaining Team has been trying for more than a year-and-half now to negotiate a new Collective Agreement with your Employer, the Hamlet of Taloyoak.

Unfortunately, after all this time, the Hamlet still has proposals on the table that are deal-breakers for the Union – because they single out some employees for unfair treatment. (The Union will address this issue in Communique #2.)

GN BARGAINING COMMUNIQUE #2

Your Union Bargaining Team has now met with the Negotiating Team for the Government of Nunavut over four separate sessions – in October 2024, and in January, February and March of this year.

We are happy to report that progress is being made toward reaching a new Collective Agreement for our more than 4,000 members who work for the Government of Nunavut.
