On Monday February 28 the Nunavut Employees Union (NEU) and Government (GN) issued a joint press release announcing that a Tentative Collective Agreement had been reached after nearly three-and-half-years of negotiations. First, I would like to thank each and every person on the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) North/NEU Bargaining Team who worked tirelessly to get us to the point of reaching a Tentative Agreement. I am a GN NEU Member and personally understand the desire for information and details about the Tentative Agreement. Prior to publicly disclosing any details of this agreement, impacted Members have to receive a Ratification Kit which provides these Members with all the information (and Agreement details) that they need to participate in the Ratification Process. We have started this process and will communicate the details as soon as we are able. This is why I am asking for your patience. We have GN Members in all communities, so this process (and planning) will take a bit of time. But, as has been the case since I was elected NEU President in October 2021, we will do what needs to be done as quickly as is possible and will communicate with GN Members as soon as we are able with all the detail we can provide.
Jason Rochon - NEU President
