National Aboriginal Day - June 21, 2017

Tuesday, June 20, 2017

June 21 is National Aboriginal Day and related events are scheduled in Nunavut and the rest of Canada to celebrate. We encourage all NEU Members to find and participate in local events in their communities or to mark this important day in a personal way. A partial list of events is available at www.canada.ca, but you may also want to check local websites or other community announcements to find local National Aboriginal Day events.

June is also National Aboriginal History Month which was established in 2009 with the passing of a unanimous motion in the House of Commons. It is a great opportunity to learn more about the contributions of Indigenous peoples to Canada as we approach the 150 year mark as a Nation.
